VSAT Communications

Satellite Newsgathering is the means by which news is gathered for television and radio broadcast using VSAT communications, here at Beacon Seek we have been dealing with VSAT communications since its inauguration and class ourselves as probably one of the best satellite consultancy firms around with a vast knowledge of all VSAT products.

Lockheed Martin has announced its plans to withdraw from the commercial VSAT communications business and to concentrate on the defence side of its business. As a result, the dismantling and subsequent selling off of Comsat, which Lockheed Martin acquired last year, will continue until the business that was Comsat no longer exists. Comsat was formed in the 1960's as the US representative and shareholder in international satellite operators Intelsat and Inmarsat.

SES Global has completed its acquisition of GE American VSAT Communications Inc stock and other satellite related assets from General Electric Capital Corporation (GE Capital) in exchange for USD 2.4 billion cash and 180 million shares in SES Global. SES Global wholly owns SES Americom (with 13 satellites primarily serving North America) and Columbia Communications (four satellites providing trans-oceanic service). It also owns 50% of Americom Asia-Pacific (one satellite serving Asia) and 29% of Nahuelsat (one satellite serving Latin America), as well as an 18% stake VSAT manufacturer Gilat. As a result of the exchange offer, SES Global wholly owns SES Astra (12 satellites serving Europe), 50% of NSAB, 34% of AsiaSat, 20% of Star One (five satellites covering Latin America), 100% of SES Multimedia and 10% of satellite technology company ND Satcom.
