The Suunto Tandem is two precision instruments in one, measuring azimuth and elevation in one rugged and compact unit, and is ideal for setting up satellite and microwave links. It enables you to take forward and reverse azimuth readings when aligning an antenna.
The Tandem, made in Finland by Suunto, combines precision with fast, easy operation. The cast aluminum housing is compact with no protruding or adjustable parts. The needles are pivoted on polished sapphire tips and immersed in a special damping oil to ensure vibration-less, smooth movement.
The bearing assembly is virtually "wear-free," while liquid remains clear with low viscosity under all conditions with easily readable scales that run freely and stop quickly. The corrosion-resistant anodized cast aluminium alloy housing protects against impact, corrosion and water.
The Tandem is supplied with a neck lanyard and skylon case.

A must for every uplinker! (Download the user guide)
Suunto calibrate the Tandem for the five different magnetic zones in the world, but we supply Zone 1 or Zone 3.
As the compass can be used in an adjacent zone with reasonable accuracy, Zone 1 will generally work satisfactorily in Zone 1 & Zone 2
Zone 3 will generally work satisfactorily in Zone 2, Zone 3, and Zone 4.
YOU MUST SELECT THE MOST APPROPRIATE ZONE FOR USE.
More on Zones - The Earth's magnetic fields affect the balance of compass needle, a phenomenon known as inclination, which leads to a loss of balance as the compass enters a different latitude. One end of the needle can become stuck on the compass' base and the other on its cover, preventing it from moving freely.
